Bamberg was the last stop on this 7 day tour of Europe starting from Vienna, heading east to Budapest, Bratislava, Brno and then rounding back through Prague and ending in Frankfurt. Bamberg was a short stop, stayed there for about 1.5 hrs and then headed back on the road to Frankfurt.
There wasn’t a whole lot to see in Bamberg, but captured just enough to get the feel of the area. Bamberg is a representative example of an early medieval town in central Europe, both in its plan and its many well-preserved buildings. The architecture of Bamberg influenced northern Germany and Hungary and at one point was the center of the Enlightenment in Southern Germany.
After leaving Bamberg and another 3 hour bus drive, we arrived in Franfurt. At this point, it was close to dinner, so we only had a walking tour of a small area of Frankfurt through a plaza that showed off the various architectural buildlings of the local area and it’s city hall. The local area is full of vibrantly colored buildings each one next to each other. This marked the end of my European trip, time to head home…
